Not really. We beat Clinton last year at Clinton. They lose a TON to graduation. We return 16 starters and they come to us.
That all sounds good, a rusty Dutch Fork still beat Spartanburg in their first game of the season last year, and it wasn't as close as the score says. This year's Silver Foxes will be a machine, yes Injury's happen but on paper this has a chance to be the best version of the Silver Foxes we have seen yet.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 7:39 amYou never know with teenagers what they are thinking and their motivation. Now Knotts is the best at getting peak performance out of the players he has every season- but at the end of the day they are kids playing a kid's game so who knows. I assume the schedule is the same with the Jamboree with Gaffney. Probably lose to that fancy team the Injuns have "acquired" during the off season since several key starters will either still be playing baseball or just finished up for the local Irmo summer league team and rusty- DF HS baseball team is 19-5 right now, so not too shabby and the Irmo summer team is solid as well. Offing, Salters, Cesario, Johnson etc... several starters play baseball too and will probably be a little rusty. It's a scrimmage so Knotts will be testing to see what he has- expect Gaffney to "win" the scrimmage - should be close I would think. DF won't be the same team come the end of October when he has the bugs worked out of the team. Let the Injuns try then. I expect the offense to be slightly better and the defense slightly off from last season, but both will be strong. The special teams don't get enough credit, but they are excellent. Spartanburg will be a tough test as always but even early on, I expect TK to find a way to win- hopefully by 10 or 12 points. Ridge View is another tough test, but DF has the depth and coaching advantage- DF should win comfortably but it will be a good game. Gray and Oceanside I kinda lump together as the local football factories but they are much smaller schools and the "too big, too strong, too fast, too many, too well coached" adage comes to mind - again DF should win comfortably but competitive games. On to region- Chapin is first. Decent 5A team but there is gap there and DF "should" win handily. White Knoll is next and if Pelham is still there (along with Irmo) will be the best team in region DF faces. WK loses their stud QB Landon Sharpe so I am not sure what they have to fill his shoes- defense will be good not sure about their offense. Again, DF should win this game comfortably but also competitive. Lexington was off last year it seemed- good talent just not sure what the issue was/is again competitive but comfortable win. River Bluff lost their HC but got a good one in Perry Parks. I expect RB to throw the ball more though they have a good RB returning so not sure what to expect from them. Quality depth is the thing that separates DF from RB and though a good game, DF should handle them. Then Irmo.... they lost the franchise QB and WR. That is a lot to replace. Brand was the motor that ran the Irmo offense. Along with WK and maybe RB, I expect IHS to be the toughest test. Big rival game but you have to like the Foxes in that one. Then playoffs and DF is a completely different animal when that rolls around.
But like Reb said too many variables to know too much...injuries, etc. Just have to wait and see.

Wren loses 90 percent of their offensive yards to graduation and two of their best defender.
MVP just lost their 4 star RB, their QB, 8 starters on defense and come to us.
BHP also lost a generational talent in Henderson.
Woodruff is the clear favorite in the upperstate.
Yeah, that's true. TK is in the head of a lot of those teams. I think the collegiate academies got to see what the "hype" is about first hand. Spartanburg, Ridge View...the region, they knew. Even though I think both Gray and Oceanside will be excellent teams this coming season, I think they will understand better what is coming. It can and does rattle other teams.Greerfan1 wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 12:11 pmThat all sounds good, a rusty Dutch Fork still beat Spartanburg in their first game of the season last year, and it wasn't as close as the score says. I don't think we give enough the credit to the psychological advantage Dutch Fork has over so many teams, when you consistently beat everyone handedly for the past 10 years, that definitely plays a factor in their success.

I don't know, just seems like each year Legend is like "the Little Boy That Cried Wolf"... or I should say "Wolverine".

This is true, and with teenagers as we all know weird stuff can happen any given day of the week. I'm interested to see what will happen July 1st, when the new transfer rule takes effect. I think for a lot of 5A schools we will see younger guys leaving programs to go to smaller programs looking for immediate playing time. Regardless it's gonna be very interesting.DFOLDMAN wrote: ↑Fri May 02, 2025 12:19 pmYeah, that's true. TK is in the head of a lot of those teams. Like I've said earlier, a lot of the DF faithful have been looking to this season and next season for some time- watching the nucleus of this team grow up and develop. Hopeful optimism... but you never know. They are after all teenagers...lol.
