Greer
Laurens
Eastside
Greenwood
Greenville
Who ya got? And why?
All posters welcome.
I'll start. I think Greenwood has a good shot (IF) Chris Liner runs the flexbone offense he ran at Laurens. We have 4 good running backs returning. #4 M. Sprowl, #2 T.Aiken, #25 C.Norman, and #33 C.Simmons. #2 and #4 didn't even play last season due to injury at the beginning. We also have #5 Jy. Martin who saw time at running back late in the year. We have both QBs coming back in Rappley and Spearman. AND we STILL have J. Tolbert coming back who plays WR, RB, and some QB. Just wish he could throw it better. I imagine the WRs will be lead by #8 A. Coats. This is not including the new faces we may see that didn't play for Pippen. Looks like we're going to be loaded. As long as no one quit anyways which I don't know. We'll see who ends up on the final roster.

Re: Region 2 AAAA
Greer had a weird year with injuries last year and still found a way to beat undefeated South Pointe on the road in the playoffs. They will be better.
Laurens losing a few key players and their coach.
Eastside is better, but are they ready for this region? Hats off to their coach if they make a run in this region.
Greenville will be playing for a region championship.
Greenwood will be all about momentum. Can Liner get his team momentum going into October. If so, Greenwood-Greenville for the region championship.
This will be a tough region here.

I need to see Greenwood under Liner before I make any projections. Until then I'd say Greenville is the favorite. I'm not picking against my own team. I'm just saying I haven't seen us yet under the new coach. Can't go off who played last year. All that matters is who plays this year. That remains to be seen.

Re: Region 2 AAAA
Fair point. I mean they were region champs last year. I'll say this, not many teams take a step forward after losing their coach when the program is in a good situation. Liner was the one that got them there. Will they be just as good or better without him? The Dan Pippen version of Greenwood was in a 7-7 game with Laurens for 3 1/2 quarters last year squandering multiple opportunities in the red zone. Laurens pulled away Midway through the fourth to win 21-7. I wasn't overly impressed to be honest. But we'll see!ChrisHornet wrote:Y’all are sleeping on Laurens. For those that have been around a while- this Region II 4A is much like the old Region II 4A of NW, RH, Spartanburg, Gaffney and Dorman Fame. Maybe one of if not the toughest region in the state!

Re: Region 2 AAAA
If you watched laurens play last year you saw how physical their offensive line is. The have an up and coming Quarterback who will do them well if they go to the spread. 2019 was just a previewChrisHornet wrote:Y’all are sleeping on Laurens. Re: Region 2 AAAA
There is better overall talent in Greenwood and what will be a better coaching staff in my opinion. The region was down last year as it showed at playoff time. We may have been the weakest region in 5A. Even though this is 4A there is a better collection of competitive teams than we had in region last year. Greenwood, Hanna, Westside, etc were all down last season. We'll see.ChrisHornet wrote:Y’all are sleeping on Laurens. Personally The 4A upperstate game could very well include teams from Region 2.

I would say this statement is almost a certainty. 4A extremely weakChrisHornet wrote:Personally The 4A upperstate game could very well include teams from Region 2.
This region (2 AAAA) is by far the strongest. Looking at the other 4A teams, I'd wager it will be South Pointe and a Region 2 team in the Turkey bowl to go to the title game.
Region 1 - Easley, Pickens, TR, Walhalla Westside
Region 4 - A.C., Dreher, Lugoff, RNE, Westwood
from the lower state - Myrtle Beach, Hartsville,
