I have seen South Florence in person twice. I haven’t seen Northwestern in person. You can watch full Northwestern games on CN2 Xtra https://www.cn2.com/category/cn2-xtra/

This is the game we all have been waiting on. Northwestern had a lot more trouble vs Greenville than I thought they would, but they made plays when they had to. Northwestern did not play a clean game at and tackling was bad at times probably due to constant laundry demotivating the team. I don’t expect the laundry to be thrown as much Saturday at the neutral site on the big stage. Northwestern is going to have to tackle well vs South Florence. Sellars is bigger than people expect and decently fast, but his tackle shaking and breaking abilities makes this team so unstoppable. The neutral site favors Northwestern. On a side note I did put a kid through Northwestern all four years and their band program. This game comes down to which team does the either of these two things better containing Sellars or all or keeping Northwestern from spreading it around with all the weapons they have on offense. Northwestern is not getting a lot of love in this matchup by the pundits, but this is the best offense South Florence has faced yet and it might not even be close in comparison to the teams they faced. As much as I like South Florence and hope they win, I don’t see them beating Northwestern on Saturday.

South Florence tough schedule? Other than Oceanside, who did they play that was good in their non-Region schedule. 3 teams of the 6 in their region didn't even have a winning record. Sounds like Dabo talking about the ACC.
  I hope that gets taped to our locker room door.

Saturday night..., we won't have to compare schedules, we can just look at the scoreboard.

May the best team win.
Where should we leave the tape.

I could be wrong, but one of these teams is going to assert their wills and in the end I don’t think this will be a close game. Either team can start out the gate firing on all cylinders and take over the game. It is just a matter of who does it to who. South Florence can play physical on both sides of the ball, Northwestern had trouble with Gaffney’s physicality and trouble with Greenville’s speed. It took a while for South Florence to pull away from AC Flora. A missed extra point and a successful 2 point conversion put the nail in the coffin. We got what we wanted in this game. This one can also end up being a classic and I hope I’m wrong about it not being close Two powerful teams and anything can happen.

NWtrojans-

NW has played 5 teams with a losing record so I would not call your schedule being that impressive either

I have seen both of you play and it comes down to 2 things
1. Who can stop the run game- If SF can stop Turbo by controlling the box with 5 / 6 guys then I give the advantage to SF. If it takes more than that then it opens the pass game up even more for NW. Can NW defense stop the running QB when you normally don't account for him. If they can't then game over.
2. Its not the offense that will lose this game, it will be the defense.
Nw defense gives up 19 a game and SF - 14
Nw offense scores 49 and game SF 46

Will be a great game no matter what !!!

Excellent thoughts here. Everyone including me have been trying to find comparisons. Not sure there are any. I can’t find anyone even close that SF has played that both win the game in the air or the ground as needed. Defensively, NW defense has had no love all year - much of it earned. However, there work against South Point, Catawba Ridge and Greenville speaks well of their progress.

Catawba Ridge is probably the closest comparison to what I have seen of SF. Northwestern spotted CR 17 points in that one before running off 28 straight. Then allowed a late TD in “prevent” mode. We cannot spot SF 17 Saturday. Turnovers gave CR those opportunities early. Gotta be clean this week. The game will swing on the turnover differential and penalties. Discipline and ball security.

Can’t wait for the game. This thing could go any direction. Who will blink first?!

Abbeville v Oceanside is a good reason not to play the schedule comparison game. Penguin making the case that SF is the best team in the state including perennial power DF. A one point game with Oceanside who isn’t the best team in 2A after all. Congrats to Abbeville, looked like a very convincing and thorough beating based on Twitter.

Doesn’t mean SF isn’t good, just don’t get too excited about comparison shopping. We all like to think South Point is a standard bearer, not this year. Third place in the region and several uninspiring wins along the way.

25 hours from now we will begin the process of finding out who owns 4A for the day.

Never bet on 16-18 year olds. No guarantees.

The Oceanside South Florence game was a non conference game played early in the year. They didn’t play their best game and yet won. They unbeaten and playing really good ball. That’s impressive + they’re led by LaNorris Sellers. It’s not uncommon for good teams to drop a game or two just like NW did. It happens. Lessons learned and I expect a very hard fought game Saturday. All this will be settled tomorrow night. Both teams better bring there A game.

One other thing: I think South Florence is maybe the 2nd or 3rd best. Behind Dutch Fork and maybe the Trojans.
